Bionicle (stylized as BIONICLE) was a line of contraction toys created by the Lego Group marketed primarily for 5-to-16-year-olds. Originally a sub-theme of Lego's Technic series, the line was initially launched in early 2001 in Europe and Australia and the following summer in North America and over the following decade became one of the Lego Groups's biggest-selling properties. The theme's concept is based on two earlier Lego themes that featured characters based on classical elements and incorporated a similar building system. In 2009, The Lego Group closed down the production of future Bionicle sets due to a lack of new sales in the product, and in the wake of theme's cancellation "replaced" Bionicle with Hero Factory; a new contraction series that carries Bionicle's legacy and features a similar building system. The Bionicle story is set in a science fantasy universe in a time pre-dating recorded history, featuring part-organic, part-machine sapient beings and is told on a vast multimedia scale through comic books, video games, website content, feature-length films and primarily, the sets themselves, among other media types. Between 2001 and 2003, the story depicted the events of six heroic beings called Toa Mata (later Toa Nuva), who with great 'Kanohi' masks of power and the ability to control different elements, protected the villagers known as Matoran on the tropical island of Mata Nui against an evil being known as the Makuta (real name later revealed as Teridax) and his many threats. The setting shifted in 2004 and 2005 to the futuristic city island of Metru Nui in a prequel storyline explaining the origins of the Matoran. 2006 began a new story focusing on the quest for the legendary Mask of Life; an artifact said to be able to save the Great Spirit Mata Nui (the god-like entity the Matoran worship) who was originally put to sleep by Makuta. The story culminated in 2008 with the revelation that Makuta Teridax had taken over Mata Nui's body - revealed to be a giant robotic humanoid vessel that houses the homelands of the Toa, Matoran and other known 'bio-mechanical' beings - and placed Mata Nui's consciousness in the Mask of Life, ejecting it into outer-space. 2009 began what was originally intended to be a new saga in the Bionicle story; the former Great Spirit Mata Nui crash-lands on the desert world of Bara Magna after being banished from his own universe by Makuta Teridax. There, he forges new friendships with the planet's Glatorian and Agori residents while attempting to find a way back to his homeland to save the Matoran from Teridax's tyrannical rule. After the announcement of Bionicle's cancellation, the 2010 storyline was changed to Teridax arriving on Bara Magna and battling Mata Nui as well as the former completing his destiny of reforming Spherus Magna; the once-plentiful planet that used to be Bara Magna. The story ended with Mata Nui retreating back inside the Mask of Life, deciding to let the Toa, Matoran, Glatorian and Agori build a new society together without him.

Blaster Master is a platforming and run and gun video game released by Sunsoft for the Nintendo Entertainment System. It is a localized version of a Japanese Famicom game titled Chô Wakusei Senki Metafight (超惑星戦記メタファイト?, which loosely translates to "Super Planetary War Records: Metafight") (also simply called Metafight or Meta Fight), which was released on June 17, 1988 (1988-06-17). The game was released in North America in November 1988 and in Europe on April 25, 1991 (1991-04-25). The game is the first in the Blaster Master series, and it spawned two spin-off titles as well as two sequels. The game features a character named Jason who follows his pet frog Fred down a hole in the earth. There he finds a tank and uses it to battle radioactive mutants. The player controls Jason and the tank SOPHIA THE 3RD through eight levels of gameplay to find the whereabouts of Fred and to defeat the mutants and their leader, the Plutonium Boss. The game was praised for its smooth play control and level designs, detailed and clean graphics, and music, and it was criticized for its high difficulty level and lack of passwords or save points. The game was novelized by Peter Lerangis, as part of the Worlds of Power series published by Scholastic Books.

Broken Sword is a franchise centered on a series of adventure games. The first game in the series, Broken Sword: The Shadow of the Templars, was released in 1996 by English video game company Revolution Software. The first sequel, Broken Sword II: The Smoking Mirror, was released a year later, and was followed by three more sequels: Broken Sword: The Sleeping Dragon in 2003, Broken Sword: The Angel of Death in 2006, and Broken Sword 5: The Serpent's Curse in 2013. A remake of the first game in the series, known as Broken Sword: Shadow of the Templars – The Director's Cut, was released in 2009, and a remake of the second game in the series, Broken Sword: The Smoking Mirror – Remastered. The main protagonists of the series are George Stobbart, an American patent lawyer, and Nicole "Nico" Collard, a French freelance journalist, although Nico does not appear as a playable character in the original game The Shadow of the Templars. The Broken Sword series was originally conceived in 1994 by Charles Cecil, Noirin Carmody and Sean Brennan, while talking about the mythology of the Knights Templar. The first three games in the series were all developed by Revolution Software, while the fourth game was co-developed by Revolution and Sumo Digital. The Shadow of the Templars and The Smoking Mirror were critical and commercial successes selling millions, while The Sleeping Dragon and The Angel of Death received mixed reviews and were not as popular as the first two games mainly due to the switch to 3D graphics and that the third game left the "point and click" interface to a more action oriented gameplay. The series appeared on several top adventure game lists. A comic book was produced for each remake of the first two Broken Sword games. In 2007, it was revealed that a Broken Sword film was in the works and would be produced by CastleBright studios, although there has been no sign of development for many years which may indicate that the project has been abandoned.

Bubble Bobble (バブルボブル, Baburu Boburu) is an arcade game by Taito, first released in 1986 and later ported to numerous home computers and game consoles. The game, starring the twin Bubble Dragons Bub (Bubblun) (バブルン, Baburun) and Bob (Bobblun) (ボブルン, Boburun), is an action-platform game in which players travel through one hundred different stages, blowing and bursting bubbles, dodging enemies and collecting a variety of items. The game became very popular and led to a long series of sequels and spin-offs. The main goal of the game is to rescue Bub and Bob's girlfriends from the Cave of Monsters. It is an early example of a game with multiple endings, which depend on the player's performance and discovery of secrets.
