Dinotopia is a fictional utopia created by author and illustrator James Gurney. It is the setting for the book series with which it shares its name. Dinotopia is an isolated island inhabited by shipwrecked humans and sentient dinosaurs who have learned to coexist peacefully as a single symbiotic society. The first book has "appeared in 18 languages in more than 30 countries and sold two million copies." Dinotopia: A Land Apart from Time and Dinotopia: The World Beneath both won Hugo awards for best original artwork. Since its original publication, over twenty Dinotopia books have been published by various authors to expand the series. A live-action TV mini-series, a brief live-action TV series, an animated film, and several video games have also been released.

Diva Starz was a series of fashion dolls created by Mattel Inc. during the Christmas shopping season of 2000. They are similar in design to the MGA Entertainment Bratz dolls released in 2001, and the Flavas dolls released by Mattel in 2003. Four dolls (Alexa, Tia, Summer, and Nikki) were offered in the original debut.

Dora the Explorer is an American educational animated TV series created by Chris Gifford, Valerie Walsh, and Eric Weiner. Dora the Explorer became a regular series in 2000. The show is carried on the Nickelodeon cable television network, including the associated Nick Jr. channel. It aired on CBS until September 2006. A Spanish-dubbed version first aired as part of a Nick en español block on NBC Universal-owned Telemundo through September 2006; since April 2008, this version of the program has been carried on Univision as part of the Planeta U block. The series is co-produced by Nickelodeon Productions and Nickelodeon Animation Studio. Dora the Explorer is one of the longest-running shows of Nick Jr. During the sixth season, the show became the Nick Jr. series with most episodes, surpassing Blue's Clues with 143 episodes, having 144 after it had complete broadcast on television. Its Tamil and Kannada translation are even aired on Chutti TV and Chintu TV. This TV series will end on January 2015 after almost 15 years of airing.

Unlike the original Dragon Quest games, the player's character does not do any of the fighting in battles; instead the player has to rely on capturing, breeding and raising monsters to do the fighting for them. The concept originated from Dragon Quest V (1992). The character and monster designs are by Dragon Ball creator, Akira Toriyama. The series spans several handheld gaming systems and each game has received positive reviews from critics. Upon the series' debut in the US, it was quickly labeled as a "Pokémon clone" by critics.For the first two US releases, the titles used Warrior instead of the original Japanese Quest. This was due to Dragon Quest's North American name being changed due to a trademark conflict with the role-playing game DragonQuest, which was published by Simulation Publications in the 1980s until the company's bankruptcy in 1982 and purchase by TSR, Inc., which then published it as an alternate line to Dungeons & Dragons until 1987. In 2003, Square Enix registered the Dragon Quest trademark in the US, making the Dragon Warrior name obsolete.

Dragon Warrior Monsters, originally released in Japan as Dragon Quest Monsters: Terry no Wonderland (ドラゴンクエストモンスターズ テリーのワンダーランド), is the first video game in the Dragon Quest Monsters series. It was released in Japan by Enix on September 25, 1998, and co-published by Eidos Interactive in Europe in 1999 and in North America in 2000. It was the first Dragon Quest game to be released in Europe. It was released for the Game Boy Color before the console itself was released; however, the cartridge is backward compatible with the older Game Boy console in black-and-white color. The game was remade for the PlayStation as Dragon Quest Monsters 1+2 Hoshi Furi no Yūsha to Bokujō no Nakamatachi (ドラゴンクエストモンスターズ1・2 星降りの勇者と牧場の仲間たち). A mobile phone incarnation titled Dragon Quest Monsters i was released in Japan on January 28, 2002. The game features the characters Terry and Milly from Dragon Quest VI when they were children, before the events in Dragon Quest VI. Dragon Warrior Monsters is often compared to the Pokémon series due to their similar gameplay. Critics set the games apart by noting the in-depth breeding system seen in this game. Square Enix announced at the Tokyo Game Show in 2011 a re-release of the game for the Nintendo 3DS. The Dragon Quest Monsters: Terry no Wonderland 3D (ドラゴンクエストモンスターズ テリーのワンダーランド3D) was released in May 2012.

Dragon Warrior Monsters 2, known in Japan as Dragon Quest Monsters 2 (ドラゴンクエストモンスターズ, Doragon Kuesuto Monsutāzu Tsū), is a video game published by Enix for the Game Boy Color. It is the second Dragon Warrior Monsters game for the Game Boy Color and features two different versions of the same game, Cobi's Journey (released as Dragon Quest Monsters 2: Ruka's Journey in Japan) and Tara's Adventure (released as Dragon Quest Monsters 2: Iru's Adventure in Japan). This was the last Game Boy Color title released in North America that was also compatible with the original Game Boy and enhanced for the Super Game Boy. Instead of traveling through portals like in the previous game, the player attains keys that lead to different worlds. The only differences in the two versions, aside from the main character, is that there are different monsters the player can find in the wild and different keys for each game. The game also introduced the new monster family, Water. Both games were remade in 2002 for the PlayStation in a compilation game called Dragon Quest Monsters 1+2 (ドラゴンクエストモンスターズ1・2 星降りの勇者と牧場の仲間たち, Doragon Kuesuto Monsutāzu Wan Tsū: Hoshi Furi no Yūsha to Bokujō no Nakamatachi, lit. "Dragon Quest Monsters 1 2: The Hero From the Stars and the Rancher Friends") and released only in Japan. The Nintendo 3DS version of both games were also remade in 2014 called Dragon Quest Monsters 2: Iru and Luca's Marvelous Mysterious Key and released only in Japan.
