Battle B-Daman (B-伝説! バトルビーダマン, Bī-Densetsu! Batoru Bīdaman, "B-Legend! Battle B-Daman") is a manga series by Eiji Inuki which ran in CoroCoro Comics by Shogakukan from 2002 to 2005. An anime was created and it first aired in January 2004 in Japan, replacing Explosive Shoot Beyblade G Revolution in its 18:00 timeslot. It premiered in the United States in April 2005. Like its predecessor, it is themed around an enhanced version of a children's schoolyard game – whereas Beyblade was based around spinning tops, Battle B-Daman is a dramatized version of marbles. It is the first show of the B-Daman series to be dubbed in English. In Japan, it airs on TV Tokyo. In the United States, it once aired on ABC Family and Toon Disney's JETIX block. At one point, as well as G4 in the USA, but on the latter was replaced by G.I. Joe: Sigma 6 soon after. In Canada, it airs on YTV, in which on February 2007, the second season (entitled Battle B Daman: Fire Spirits) commenced with a completely new voice cast, and what some have called inferior dubbing from the first season; the French dub of the show airs on Télétoon. In the India, it airs on DD National and Zee TV and the first few episodes are currently available through DD Kashir TV on demand service. The toys were originally made by DD India and were released by Hasbro in United States. In Japan, Battle B-Daman: Fire Spirits! was superseded by Crash B-Daman, a new series with an all new cast and story. The original look of the B-Daman character was based on Bomberman (hence the name of the original version of the original toy: "Bomberman B-Tembak"), but the belt buckle is replaced with a "marble". The manga is published in English by Chuang Yi.

BattleBots was an American company that hosted robot competitions. BattleBots was also the name of the television show created from the competition footage hosted by comedian Bil Dwyer. BattleBots Inc. was headquartered in Vallejo, California and held most of its competitions in the San Francisco area. In a BattleBots event the competitors are remote-controlled armed and armored machines designed to fight in an arena combat elimination tournament. If both combat robots are still operational at the end of the match, the winner is determined by a point system based on damage, aggression, and strategy. The television show BattleBots aired on the American cable network Comedy Central for five seasons, covering five BattleBots tournaments. The first season aired starting in August 2000, and the fifth season aired starting in August 2002. Hosts of BattleBots were Dwyer and Sean Salisbury (with Tim Green replacing Salisbury after the second season) and correspondents included former Baywatch actresses Donna D'Errico, Carmen Electra, and Traci Bingham, former Playboy Playmate Heidi Mark, and identical twins Randy and Jason Sklar. Bill Nye was the show's "technical expert". The show's match announcer was longtime boxing ring announcer Mark Beiro. After five seasons, Comedy Central terminated their contract with BattleBots Inc. in late 2002. As of May 2011, there are no future plans for Battlebots.

A battleship is a large armored warship with a main battery consisting of heavy caliber guns. During the late 19th and early 20th centuries the battleship was the most powerful type of warship, and a fleet of battleships was vital for any nation which desired to maintain command of the sea. During World War II, aircraft carriers overtook battleships in power. Some battleships remained in service during the Cold War and the last were decommissioned in the 1990s. The word battleship was coined around 1794 and is a contraction of the phrase line-of-battle ship, the dominant wooden warship during the Age of Sail. The term came into formal use in the late 1880s to describe a type of ironclad warship, now referred to by historians as pre-dreadnought battleships. In 1906, the commissioning of HMS Dreadnought heralded a revolution in battleship design. Following battleship designs, influenced by HMS Dreadnought, were referred to as "dreadnoughts". Battleships were a symbol of naval dominance and national might, and for decades the battleship was a major factor in both diplomacy and military strategy. The global arms race in battleship construction began in Europe, following the 1890 publication of Alfred Thayer Mahan's The Influence of Sea Power upon History, 1660–1783. This arms race culminated at the decisive Battle of Tsushima in 1905; the outcome of which significantly influenced the design of HMS Dreadnought. The launch of Dreadnought in 1906 commenced a new naval arms race which was widely considered to have been an indirect cause of World War I. The Naval Treaties of the 1920s and 1930s limited the number of battleships, though technical innovation in battleship design continued. Both the Allies and the Axis powers deployed battleships during World War II. The value of the battleship has been questioned, even during the period of their prominence. In spite of the immense resources spent on battleships, there were few pitched battleship clashes. Even with their enormous firepower and protection, battleships were increasingly vulnerable to much smaller, cheaper ordnance and craft: initially the torpedo and the naval mine, and later aircraft and the guided missile. The growing range of naval engagements led to the aircraft carrier replacing the battleship as the leading capital ship during World War II, with the last battleship to be launched being HMS Vanguard in 1944. Battleships were retained by the United States Navy into the Cold War for fire support purposes before being stricken from the U.S. Naval Vessel Register in the 2000s.

"Beauty and the Beast" (French: La Belle et la Bête) is a traditional fairy tale. The best-known written version was an abridgement of her work published in 1756 by Jeanne-Marie Le Prince de Beaumont, in Magasin des enfants, ou dialogues entre une sage gouvernante et plusieurs de ses élèves; an English translation appeared in 1757. Variants of the tale are known across Europe. In France, for example, Zémire et Azor is an operatic version of the story, written by Marmontel and composed by Grétry in 1771, which had enormous success well into the 19th century; it is based on the second version of the tale. Amour pour amour, by Nivelle de la Chaussée, is a 1742 play based on Villeneuve's version.
