SpongeBob SquarePants is an American animated television series created by marine biologist and animator Stephen Hillenburg. The series chronicles the adventures and endeavors of the title character and his various friends in the fictional underwater city of Bikini Bottom. The series' popularity has made it a media franchise, as well as the highest rated show to ever air on Nickelodeon, and the most distributed property of MTV Networks. The media franchise has generated $8 billion in merchandising revenue for Nickelodeon. Many of the ideas for the series originated in an unpublished, educational comic book titled The Intertidal Zone, which Hillenburg created in the mid-1980s. He began developing SpongeBob SquarePants into a television series in 1996 upon the cancellation of Rocko's Modern Life, and turned to Tom Kenny, who had worked with him on that series, to voice the titular character. SpongeBob was originally going to be named SpongeBoy, and the series was to be called SpongeBoy Ahoy!, but these were changed, as the name was already trademarked. Nickelodeon held a preview for the series in the United States on May 1, 1999, following the television airing of the 1999 Kids' Choice Awards. The series officially premiered on July 17, 1999. It has received worldwide critical acclaim since its premiere and gained enormous popularity by its second season. A feature film, The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie, was released in theaters on November 19, 2004, and a sequel is currently in production, with a projected release date of February 6, 2015. On July 21, 2012, the series was renewed and aired its ninth season, beginning with the episode "Extreme Spots". Despite its widespread popularity, the series has been involved in several public controversies, including one centered around speculation over SpongeBob's intended sexual orientation. The series has been nominated for a variety of different awards, including 17 Annie Awards (with six wins), 17 Golden Reel Awards (with eight wins), 15 Emmy Awards (with one win), 13 Kids' Choice Awards (with 12 wins), and four BAFTA Children's Awards (with two wins). In 2011, a newly described species of mushroom, Spongiforma squarepantsii, was named after the cartoon's title character.

Street Fighter Alpha: Warriors' Dreams, known as Street Fighter Zero (ストリートファイター ZERO) in Japan, Asia, South America, and Australia, is a 1995 fighting game by Capcom originally released for the arcade for the CPS II hardware. It was the first all new Street Fighter game produced by Capcom since the release of Street Fighter II in 1991. The game introduces several new features, expanding on the Super Combo system previously featured in Super Street Fighter II Turbo, with graphics drawn in the same animated style Capcom employed in Darkstalkers and X-Men: Children of the Atom. The plot of Street Fighter Alpha is set after the original Street Fighter but before Street Fighter II and thus the game features younger versions of established characters, as well as characters from the original Street Fighter and Final Fight, and a few who are new to the series. The working title for the game was Street Fighter Legends.

Stuart Little is a 1945 children's novel by E. B. White, his first book for children, and is widely recognized as a classic in children's literature. Stuart Little was illustrated by the subsequently award-winning artist Garth Williams, also his first work for children. It is a realistic fantasy about a talking mouse, Stuart Little, born to human parents in New York City.

Super Chinese Fighter EX is a fighting video game for the Game Boy Color released by Culture Brain in 1999. It is part of the Super Chinese series and is the final Fighter game in the series. Unlike most of the Super Chinese games, Fighter EX is not an action game or role-playing video game. The game features several characters from the Super Chinese series, including the main characters, Jack and Ryu.

Survival Kids, known as Stranded Kids in Europe and Survival Kids: Kotou no Boukensha (ことう の ぼうけんか, lit. "Adventurer of the Solitary Island") in Japan, is a Game Boy Color game developed by Konami that was released in 1999. The gameplay revolves around surviving on a deserted island. The game features an open-ended structure that presents the player with multiple ways to progress through the game, all at the player's own pace.

Sweet Ange is a Game Boy Color game from the Angelique series by KOEI. It is a cooking (confection making) simulation with some dating sim elements. The player is given a choice of four protagonists: Angelique Limoges, Rosalia de Catargena, Angelique Collet, or Rachel Hart. The story takes place several years before the events in the first Angelique game and all the characters are correspondingly younger. The Guardians are known as the Sweet Knights, each of them associated with a confection/drink category. The goal of this game is to win the Rose Contest - the Smallney Academy cooking contest and become friends with the Sweet Knights along the way. As it is in an alternate universe setting, it is generally not considered to be part of a story arc in the series.

SWIV is a 2D vertically scrolling Shoot 'em up game originally released in 1991 for the Commodore Amiga, Atari ST, Commodore 64, ZX Spectrum and Amstrad CPC home computer formats. It was converted to the Game Boy Color in 2001. The game was considered a spiritual successor to Tecmo arcade game Silkworm, which The Sales Curve had previously converted to home computer formats in 1989. The Game's heritage is evident from the game design whereby one player pilots a helicopter, and the other an armoured Jeep though SWIV is not an official sequel, as noted by ex-Sales Curve producer Dan Marchant: "SWIV wasn't really a sequel to Silkworm, but it was certainly inspired by it and several other shoot-'em-ups that we had played and loved." In the game's own manual (for the Amiga, at least), however, it was explained that "SWIV" was both an acronym for "Special Weapons Intercept Vehicles" and also short for "Silkworm IV" (even though there was not a Silkworm II or III). Fans commonly refer to it as "Silkworm In Vertical".
